About the La Venenosa Costa de Jalisco (47.3%)
La Venenosa Costa de Jalisco is an artisanal Raicilla produced by Maestro Tabernero Don Alberto Hernández in the coastal village of Llano Grande. Roasted in a wood-fired adobe oven, naturally fermented in wooden tubs, and double-distilled using a traditional Filipino-style still made from a hollowed-out tree trunk with a copper condenser, it presents a bold, rustic, and distinctively funky coastal agave profile.
Food Pairing: Grilled seafood, ceviche, roasted pork belly, aged cheeses, or rich, savory Mexican moles.
Tasting Notes : Clear with a faint oily sheen, featuring a viscous, rich, and full-bodied mouthfeel.
Nose : Heavy herbal funk accompanied by wood smoke, cedar, leather, ocean brine, and subtle lactic tones.
Palate : Complex and savory with sweet cooked agave, woody smoke, melon, dark pepper, and subtle earthy minerality.
Finish : Long, warm, and dry with lingering smoke, pepper, and coastal salinity.
Serve : Serve neat at room temperature in a clay copita or glass tasting vessel.
