Isle Of Raasay 'Distillery Of The Year' Release

Isle Of Raasay 'Distillery Of The Year' Release is a special commemorative single malt Scotch whisky celebrating the distillery's prestigious win at the 2022 Scottish Whisky Awards. Distilled in August 2018 and bottled in August 2023, this unique limited edition features the distillery's unpeated spirit initially matured in ex-rye whiskey casks before being finished in rare virgin Colombian oak (Quercus humboldtii) casks. This innovative cask selection imparts a decadent, dessert-like profile rich in vanilla and butterscotch, perfectly balanced by a distinctive savory oak spice.

Food Pairing: Crème brûlée, vanilla bean ice cream, caramel tarts, dark chocolate with dried cherries, or mild semi-hard cheeses.

Tasting Notes : Natural golden amber in appearance with a medium, slightly creamy, and bright mouthfeel.

Nose : Sweet vanilla, butterscotch, sugar caramel, black cherries, and a touch of savoury oak spice.

Palate : Rich and entirely unpeated, showcasing decadent flavors of butterscotch, vanilla, caramelized sugar, dark cherries, and a complex, drying Colombian oak spice.

Finish : Long, sweet, and satisfying, reminiscent of crème brûlée with lingering notes of warm baking spices and subtle oak tannins.

Serve : Serve neat in a Glencairn glass to appreciate the unique cask finish, or with a few drops of water to soften the spice and open up the confectionary notes.
