Prats & Symington Chryseia Douro Doc 2022

A flagship Portuguese wine produced through the acclaimed joint venture between the Symington family and Bruno Prats (former owner of Château Cos d'Estournel), Chryseia represents the pinnacle of Douro winemaking. Sourced from Quinta de Roriz and Quinta da Perdiz in the Cima Corgo, it reveals sophisticated aromas of ripe blackberries, black plum, crushed violets, dark chocolate, and subtle french oak spices. Full-bodied, seamless, and remarkably refined on the palate, it exhibits deep fruit concentration framed by silky, fine-grained tannins and a long, mineral-driven finish.

Food Pairing: Pairs magnificently with prime ribeye steak, roasted venison, rack of lamb, braised short ribs, or aged hard cheeses.

It is, as always, an impressive wine, combining Bordeaux style with Douro intensity. Loaded with a pure core of blueberry, boysenberry and black plum fruit flavors, this bright, focused red is well-tailored and harmonious. The generous fruit is embroidered with a lovely range of milled white pepper, anise, paprika, violet, thyme and lavender accents, plus mocha, toast and mineral notes. The palate is medium- to full-bodied, super polished and subtle, with vibrant fruit and enveloping polished tannins. The wood is very well integrated. 75% touriga nacional and 25% touriga franca.
