About the Domaine Ponsot Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Cuvee Vieilles Vignes 1.5L Magnum
Crafted in the famed Morey-Saint-Denis appellation of the Côte de Nuits, Burgundy, France, Domaine Ponsot Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Cuvée Vieilles Vignes Magnum (1.5L) is an ultra-rare, blue-chip Pinot Noir presented in a single magnum format. Domaine Ponsot is the premier producer and largest landholder in this Grand Cru climat, featuring old vines planted as far back as 1911 and 1947. Renowned for their uncompromising approach, the estate practices low-yield farming, uses no new oak (aging exclusively in decades-old neutral oak casks), and avoids sulfur additions until bottling. Sourced from shallow, stony limestone soils overlying Jurassic rock, this cuvée offers an extraordinary combination of wild aromatic power, intense savory complexity, and incredible longevity. Bottled in magnum, the larger format allows for slower, more graceful aging, making this an essential centerpiece for high-end cellars and fine wine collectors.
Food Pairing: Roasted venison tenderloin, braised duck breast with cherry reduction, squab, truffled beef tenderloin, wild mushroom risotto, and fine aged French cheeses like Époisses de Bourgogne or Cîteaux.
