About the Poliziano Le Caggiole Vino Nobile di Montepulciano
Crafted in the famed historical hill town of Montepulciano in eastern Tuscany, Italy, Poliziano "Le Caggiole" Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG is an elite, single-vineyard cru that represents the pinnacle of the estate’s winemaking tradition. Poliziano initially produced a vineyard-designated wine from Le Caggiole in the late 1980s, but owner Federico Carletti paused production to completely replant the site with superior Sangiovese (Prugnolo Gentile) clones tailored to the unique microclimate. Relaunched decades later, "Le Caggiole" originates from a historic 14-hectare parcel situated at an ideal elevation of 350 to 380 meters, featuring sandy, silt-rich soils abundant in marine fossils. Matured for 16 to 18 months in fine French oak tonneaux and larger wooden casks, this prestigious bottling delivers an extraordinarily floral, elegant, and mineral-driven expression of Sangiovese that stands among Tuscany's finest red wines.
Food Pairing: Florentine T-bone steak (Bistecca alla Fiorentina), braised wild boar ragù, roasted rack of lamb, osso buco, truffled pasta dishes, and aged Pecorino Toscano cheese.
