About the Poli Mirtillo
Poli Mirtillo is a lively, delightfully sweet, and highly aromatic Italian liqueur crafted by the historic Poli Distillerie in Schiavon, Veneto. Masterfully bridging the gap between traditional Italian distillation and wild alpine flavors, this premium creation is made by naturally infusing whole wild blueberries (Vaccinium Myrtillus) in authentic, estate-distilled copper pot still Grappa. Rather than masking the spirit, the high-purity Grappa base provides a sturdy structural elegance that frames the natural juices and essential oils of the fruit. The result is a beautifully balanced liqueur bursting with authentic, unadulterated berry flavor, reminiscent of fresh blueberry jam spread over morning toast.
Food Pairing: The deep, sweet, and pleasantly tart berry profile of this liqueur makes it an exceptional companion to a variety of desserts. It pairs beautifully with lemon pound cake, fresh fruit tarts, vanilla panna cotta, and traditional Italian biscotti or cantucci. It also serves as a brilliant counterpoint to savory and salty dishes, pairing wonderfully with fresh goat cheese, rich ricotta drizzled with honey, or a high-end charcuterie board featuring cured meats and duck liver pâté.
TASTING NOTES - A medium ruby-purple hue with violet highlights. The texture is medium-bodied, remarkably smooth, and offers a pleasant, well-rounded, and juicy viscosity across the palate.
NOSE - Forward, bright, and intensely fruity, opening with prominent aromas of freshly picked wild blueberries, red berry compote, and a delicate floral touch of lily of the valley, all resting on a clean, soft Grappa foundation.
PALATE - Generous, sweet, and perfectly balanced. Rich flavors of sweet caramelized blueberries and dark forest berries seamlessly coat the mouth, enlivened mid-palate by a subtle, refreshing tartness and the gentle, structured warmth of fine pomace brandy.
FINISH - Clean, sweet, and of medium length. The heavy fruit characteristics slowly fade away, leaving a highly satisfying, lingering aftertaste of blueberry jam, subtle grape skins, and a soft, comforting warmth.
SERVE - Best served slightly chilled at a cellar temperature of 10-15°C (50-59°F) in a traditional tulip-shaped glass or spirits snifter as an elegant after-dinner digestif. It can also be served over crushed ice, poured directly over a scoop of premium vanilla bean gelato, or topped with cold Prosecco for a vibrant, fruity summer spritz.
