Pokeno PX Sherry Finish Single Cask

Pōkeno PX Sherry Finish Single Cask is a New Zealand single malt whisky produced at Pōkeno Distillery in the Waikato. Initially matured in a first-fill bourbon barrel, the whisky was re-racked into a Pedro Ximénez (PX) sherry butt from Miguel Martin for a six-month finishing period. Bottled at 46% ABV and non-chill filtered, it offers rich cherry, Christmas cake and dark chocolate alongside sweet citrus, vanilla and sherry richness.

Food Pairing: Dark chocolate, fruitcake, aged cheddar, roasted nuts, duck, or rich desserts featuring cherries, citrus and dried fruit.

Tasting Notes: Rich and sherried, combining ripe cherries, Christmas cake and dark chocolate with sweet citrus, vanilla and dried-fruit sweetness.

Nose: Rich and inviting, with ripe cherries, dried fruit, Christmas cake and dark chocolate.

Palate: Full and sweet, developing citrus and vanilla alongside rich PX sherry, dark fruit and subtle oak.

Finish: Long and sweet, with lingering dried fruit, sherry richness, chocolate and gentle spice.
