About the Poggio Landi Brunello Riserva 2019
Poggio Landi Brunello Riserva 2019 pours a luminous, compact garnet color with brilliant ruby highlights in the glass. The highly expressive bouquet opens with graceful, intoxicating aromatics of ripe red cherries, cranberries, and fresh blueberries, beautifully layered with secondary nuances of crushed violets, leather, sweet baking spices, and a distinctive balsamic depth. On the palate, this full-bodied and finely structured Tuscan red showcases immense depth and power, driven by a juicy, concentrated core of dark forest fruits. A vibrant line of natural acidity imparts healthy tension and precision, while fine-grained, velvety tannins seamlessly frame the rich texture. Following 48 months of meticulous maturation in French oak barrels, it carries subtle undercurrents of cedar, black pepper, and medicinal herbs effortlessly into an exceptionally long, elegant, and mineral-driven finish.
Food Pairing: Pairs perfectly with slow-braised wild boar ragù, grilled prime ribeye steak, roasted rosemary lamb chops, truffle-infused mushroom risotto, or aged Pecorino Toscano cheese.
96 Points - Wine Spectator
High-end floral, strawberry and cherry notes are grounded with flavors of earth, iron, stone and underbrush in this intense, lively red. Well-mannered tannins come to the fore on the finish, leaving a firm grip. Shows fine equilibrium and terrific length. Best from 2028 through 2047. 750 cases made, 375 cases imported.
95 Points - James Suckling
Approachable and graceful style here with intoxicating violet aromas, black cherries, superfresh and juicy fruitiness and spicy depth. Medium-bodied, this is focused on tension and vibrancy with firm, chalky tannins and a long, fruity finish. From organically grown grapes. Drinkable now but best from 2026.
95 Points - Wine Enthusiast
Deliciously medicinal and herbaceous on the nose with intense salinity, like fresh herbs growing on seaside cliffs. The palate sweetens significantly with milk chocolate layered over cherries and orange slices, but abundant pepper and acid hold tension.
93 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Also quite savory with cured tobacco and sweet cigar, the organic Poggio Landi 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is a bold and structured wine with thick layers of baking spice and brandied plum. Its texture is open knit, and I would consider it almost ready to drink now. A hint of candied maraschino cherry adds sweet brightness to the close.
