About the Poggio Landi Brunello Di Montalcino 2017
Poggio Landi Brunello Di Montalcino 2017 pours a beautiful ruby red color with subtle garnet reflections in the glass. The highly expressive bouquet opens with classic, vibrant aromas of ripe wild cherries, blue flowers, and fresh plums, beautifully layered with secondary nuances of used leather, underbrush, eucalyptus oil, and warm earthiness. On the palate, this full-bodied and certified-organic Tuscan red wine delivers a remarkably graceful, silky, and smooth mouthfeel. A generous core of concentrated black cherry and mature plum is framed by tight, fine-grained tannins and a balanced streak of fresh acidity that drives wonderful tension. Maturation in traditional French oak casks imparts subtle hints of sweet spices, vanilla, and toasted wood, carrying crushed mineral tones effortlessly into a long, persistent, and elegant finish.
Food Pairing: Pairs perfectly with slow-braised wild boar ragù, grilled prime ribeye steak, roasted rosemary lamb chops, or well-aged Pecorino Toscano cheese.
93 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
A certified-organic wine, the 2017 Brunello di Montalcino shows a graceful and delicate side with wild cherries, blue flowers and warm earthiness. The wine is silky and smooth on the palate, with hints of crushed mineral or limestone. Fresh acidity fuels a long but lightweight finish. This accessible vintage (with 90,000 bottles made) is ready to enjoy in the near or medium term.
92 Points - Wine Spectator
Framed by vanilla and toasty oak, the black cherry and plum flavors in this red are focused and backed by lively acidity. A matrix of dense tannins also lurks underneath, leaving a tactile impression on the finish. Best from 2025 through 2040.
91 Points - James Suckling
90 Points - Wine Enthusiast
Underbrush, eucalyptus oil and used leather aromas come to the forefront. The full-bodied, chewy palate is already approachable, offering fleshy black cherry, mature plum and licorice alongside enveloping, fine-grained tannins. Drink through 2027.
