About the Skaramuca Dingac 50 Plavac Mali
Crafted along the extreme, south-facing coastal cliffs of the Pelješac Peninsula in Southern Dalmatia, Croatia, Skaramuča Dingač 50° Plavac Mali is an extraordinary, highly concentrated red wine from Croatia's most legendary Grand Cru vineyard area: Dingač. Produced by Vina Skaramuča—one of the region's pioneering family estates—this cuvée derives its name from the sheer 50-degree incline of the rugged limestone terraces dropping directly into the Adriatic Sea. Plavac Mali, the ancient indigenous Croatian grape and ancestral relative to Zinfandel, absorbs "triple sunlight" in Dingač: directly from the sun, reflected off the white limestone karst soils, and mirrored off the blue sea below. The result is hyper-concentrated fruit harvested by hand using ropes on extreme slopes. Aged in Croatian and French oak barrels, this wine delivers an authentic, powerful, and majestic expression of Mediterranean terroir.
Food Pairing: Croatian pašticada (slow-braised beef with gnocchi), roasted leg of lamb with rosemary, grilled prime ribeye, venison stew, roasted wild boar, and aged hard sheep's milk cheeses like Paški sir.
