Pio Cesare Langhe Nebbiolo 2022

Pio Cesare Langhe Nebbiolo 2022 is a refined, energetic, and wonderfully expressive Italian red wine that offers a brilliant, highly accessible introduction to the noble grape of Piedmont. Sourced from choice family-owned vineyards—including prestigious plots within the Barolo region at Serralunga d'Alba and the Barbaresco region at Treiso—this "baby Barolo" is crafted to highlight the variety's vibrant fruit and fragrance at an earlier stage in its life. In the glass, it pours a translucent ruby color with delicate garnet reflections. The nose is highly aromatic and classic, opening with a bouquet of fresh red cherries, wild raspberries, and crushed rose petals, layered with hints of dried herbs, white pepper, and dark tobacco. On the palate, this medium-to-full-bodied selection features a rich and ripe fruit core balanced beautifully by a lively, crunchy acidity. Aged for up to 24 months in large French oak casks with a small portion in barriques, its firm, traditional Nebbiolo structure is smoothed out by gentle, sweet tannins, leading to a clean, savory, and remarkably persistent finish.

Food Pairing: This food-friendly and structured red pairs excellently with roasted veal, lamb chops with rosemary, pasta with wild mushroom sauce, duck confit, or semi-firm cheeses like Fontina and young Pecorino.
