About the Pietri Geraud Banyuls Cuvee Mediterranee
Crafted in the steep, terraced vineyards of the Roussillon region in Southern France, Domaine Piétri-Géraud Banyuls Cuvée Méditerranée is a classic French fortified dessert wine (Vin Doux Naturel) from the historic coastal town of Collioure and Banyuls-sur-Mer. Overlooking the Mediterranean Sea near the Spanish border, the old Grenache vines thrive in dramatic, sun-drenched schist soils, producing fruit with intense natural sweetness and concentration. Produced under the passionate care of mother-daughter winemakers Maguy and Laetitia Piétri-Géraud, this cuvée is fortified with neutral grape spirit during fermentation to halt the yeast, preserving the grape's natural sugars. Maturation takes place in a combination of oak casks and neutral vats, resulting in a beautifully balanced, fruit-forward dessert wine with rich Mediterranean warmth.
Food Pairing: Dark chocolate tarts, lava cake, chocolate truffles, blue cheeses like Roquefort or Stilton, dried fruit platters, roasted figs with honey, and berry desserts.
