Pierre Ferrand 1840 Classic Cognac

Created by Maison Ferrand owner Alexandre Gabriel in collaboration with cocktail historian David Wondrich, Pierre Ferrand 1840 Original Formula was specifically developed to recreate the style of 19th-century 3-Star (VS) Cognacs. Sourced exclusively from the chalky soils of the premier Grande Champagne cru, this expression is distilled on the lees in traditional copper pot stills and matured in French oak casks. Bottled at a higher strength of 45% ABV (90 proof) compared to modern standards, it offers greater depth, concentration, and structural weight, making it exceptionally well-suited for classic vintage cocktail recipes.

Food Pairing: Rich dark chocolate, spiced charcuterie, aged Comte cheese, pecan pie, or enjoyed as the foundation in 19th-century cocktail preparations.

Tasting Notes: Warm amber-gold with bright copper reflections, displaying medium density and distinct, well-defined legs lining the glass.

Nose: Intensely aromatic, lively, and spice-forward, opening with ripe peach, acacia honey, and candied lemon peel, followed by warm baking spices, vanilla, and subtle blossom floral notes.
