Crafted in Tlacolula, Oaxaca, Mexico, Pelotón de la Muerte Espadín is an artisanal mezcal produced by maestro mezcalero Héctor Sánchez under Mezcales de Leyenda. Named after the historic "Squadron of Death" flag used by Insurgent troops during the Mexican War of Independence, this mezcal is crafted specifically with bartenders and cocktail versatility in mind. Made from 100% cultivated Espadín agave (Agave angustifolia) that matures for 6 to 9 years, the piñas are slow-cooked in traditional underground stone pit ovens fueled by oak and mesquite wood, crushed using a horse-drawn stone tahona wheel, and open-fermented in wooden pine vats with natural wild airborne yeasts. Double-distilled in traditional copper pot stills, this unaged expression delivers an approachable, well-balanced profile featuring gentle wood smoke, sweet cooked agave, and crisp citrus, presented here in a convenient 250ml pocket-sized bottle.
