About the Pavillon Rouge du Chateau Margaux 2000
Pavillon Rouge du Chateau Margaux is the historic second wine of Chateau Margaux, led by Cabernet Sauvignon and complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. The wine combines refined structure, concentrated fruit, fine tannins, freshness, and depth, offering an accessible expression of the estate's distinctive character.
Food Pairing: Pairs best with roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, or grilled venison.
94 Points - Wine Spectator
Glorious aromas of freshly picked raspberries, with tiny hints of cream and minerals. Full-bodied, with superfine tannins and a long, long finish of berries and cherries. Super second wine from Margaux. Best Pavillon Rouge I have ever tasted. Best after 2010.
89 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2000 Pavillon Rouge exhibits a medium to dark ruby color with some lightening at the edge, along with cedar, spice box, black cherry and currant notes. It is evolved and fully mature, with Robert Parker recommending consumption over the following four to five years.
