About the Pascal Cotat 'Les Monts Damnes' Sancerre 2024
Pascal Cotat 'Les Monts Damnés' Sancerre 2024 is an extraordinarily rich, laser-focused, and ageworthy natural expression of Sauvignon Blanc produced by legendary vigneron Pascal Cotat. Sourced from the steep, south-facing slopes of the iconic 'Les Monts Damnés' vineyard in Chavignol—reiterated for its chalky Kimmeridgian marl and limestone soils—the grapes are late-harvested by hand to maximize ripeness and texture. Fermented spontaneously with native yeasts in older demi-muids and aged in large tonneaux barrels before being bottled unfined and unfiltered, the 2024 vintage opens with striking aromatics of white peach, cantaloupe, lime peel, honeysuckle, and crushed river rocks. On the palate, it delivers a plush yet crystalline structure, balancing concentrated citrus and orchard fruits with incisive acidity, electric minerality, and a long, saline-tinged finish.
Food Pairing: Pairs wonderfully with fresh oysters, poached lobster, pan-seared scallops, roasted white fish in butter sauce, Crottin de Chavignol goat cheese, and herb-roasted poultry.
