About the Parajes del Valle Terraje Monastrell
Crafted in the high-altitude desert of Jumilla in Southeastern Spain, Parajes del Valle Terraje is an exceptional, organically farmed single-vineyard red wine that redefines modern Spanish Monastrell (Mourvèdre). Sourced exclusively from the "Terraje" vineyard—a tiny plot of 80-year-old, bush-trained, ungrafted vines planted on chalky limestone soils at over 800 meters elevation—this cuvée showcases remarkable freshness and elegance rather than heavy extraction. Winemaker Maria Jover uses minimal intervention, fermenting whole clusters with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel before aging the wine in old, neutral French oak foudres to preserve its pristine floral aromatics, crunchy berry fruit, and intense chalky minerality.
Food Pairing: Rosemary-rubbed grilled lamb chops, roasted pork tenderloin, wood-fired mushroom pizza, Spanish tapas, paella, and aged Manchego cheese.
