About the Stephane Ogier Cote-Rotie La Belle Helene
Crafted in the steep, terraced amphitheatres of Ampuis in the Northern Rhône Valley, Domaine Stéphane Ogier Côte-Rôtie "La Belle Hélène" is an legendary, 100-point cult wine that stands among the absolute greatest expressions of Syrah on earth. Named by winemaker Stéphane Ogier in honor of his mother, Hélène, this rare single-lieu-dit bottling is sourced entirely from old, low-yielding Syrah vines planted in 1947 within the famed Côte Rozier vineyard on the Côte Brune. Rooted deeply in mica-schist and iron-rich soils, the vines produce fruit of breathtaking concentration, mineral drive, and structural longevity. Undergoing meticulous hand-selection, gentle temperature-controlled fermentation, and extended aging in fine French oak barriques (with a high proportion of new oak), La Belle Hélène captures an extraordinary fusion of raw Northern Rhône power and burgundian elegance.
Food Pairing: Herb-crusted rack of lamb, braised venison loin with dark berry reduction, roasted prime ribeye, wild boar ragù, squab, and mature French cheeses like Saint-Nectaire or Comté.
