About the Nueveuno Anejo Tequila Artesanal
Crafted in El Arenal, located in the Tequila Valley (Lowlands) of Jalisco, Mexico, Nueveuno (91) is a certified organic, additive-free artisanal tequila produced at the renowned Tequila Cascahuín distillery (NOM 1123). Created as a tribute to the historical emergency call code and the dedication of frontline responders, Nueveuno focuses on pure, traditional production values. Made from 100% estate-grown organic Blue Weber agave (Agave tequilana), the mature piñas are slow-cooked in traditional stone masonry brick ovens (mampostería), crushed using a mechanical roller mill, and fermented in open stainless steel tanks with natural yeasts. Double-distilled in traditional copper pot stills, the spirit is aged for 24 months (2 years) in American oak barrels. This extended wood maturation rounds out the bright lowland agave character, yielding a rich, luxurious profile laden with toasted oak, vanilla, roasted nuts, and warm baking spices without ever obscuring its authentic agave core.
Food Pairing: Slow-roasted pork carnitas, braised short ribs, mole poblano, aged Gouda or Manchego cheese, dark chocolate truffles, or pecan pie.
Tasting Notes: Warm golden amber in appearance with brilliant clarity, a silky full body, and slow, coating, viscous tears.
Nose: Elegant and rich, opening with toasted oak, warm vanilla bean, and butterscotch, accompanied by roasted agave nectar, toasted almonds, dark cocoa, and subtle dried fruit notes.
Palate: Smooth, velvety, and complex on the palate, featuring caramelized agave, dark honey, and sweet oak upfront before unfolding into dark chocolate, nutmeg, cinnamon, candied orange peel, and light herbal tea.
Finish: Long, warm, and refined with lingering notes of sweet vanilla, toasted oak wood, subtle baking spices, and a soft, dry mineral warmth.
Serve: Enjoy neat at room temperature in a Glencairn glass or Riedel Tequila glass to allow its complex oak maturation and rich cooked agave character to fully open.
