About the Stormy Weather Northern Gale Cabernet Sauvignon 2017
Stormy Weather Northern Gale Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 is a powerful and opulent expression of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon crafted by winemaker Cameron Woodbridge, brother of Hundred Acre's founder Jayson Woodbridge. Sourced from the cooler Coombsville AVA nestled in the southern reaches of Napa Valley, this artisanal boutique production underwent a four-day cold soak followed by an additional five days of post-fermentation extended maceration. It was aged for 33 months in French oak barrels (36% new and 64% once-used) and an additional seven months in bottle prior to release. In the glass, it reveals a deep garnet color, opening with intense, heady aromas of cherry liqueur, cassis, blackberries, cloves, and wild sage. The full-bodied palate is rich and deeply concentrated, unfolding with layers of wild berries, stony minerals, chocolate orange, tobacco leaf, and black olives, supported by thick, luscious tannins that coat the palate on an impressively long, vibrant finish.
Food Pairing:
Pairs beautifully with pan-seared venison medallions, rosemary-crusted rack of lamb, robust slow-cooked beef stews, and mature hard cheeses like Mimolette.
