About the Nikka Yoichi Single Malt Japanese Whisky
Nikka Yoichi Single Malt Japanese Whisky is the flagship single malt from Nikka's first distillery, built in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru on the northern island of Hokkaido. Distilled using traditional direct coal-fired pot stills, this whisky is celebrated for its bold, rich, and gently peaty character, which is beautifully balanced by maritime influences from the nearby Ishikari Bay.
Food Pairing: Smoked salmon, grilled scallops, roasted root vegetables, charcuterie, dark chocolate, or mature aged cheddar.
Tasting Notes : Rich golden amber in appearance with a full-bodied, robust, and slightly oily mouthfeel.
Nose : Gentle peat smoke, fresh maritime sea breeze, candied citrus peel, melon, subtle vanilla, and a touch of roasted nuts.
Palate : Bold and well-rounded, delivering flavors of sweet barley malt, baked apple, gentle coal smoke, subtle sea salt, toasted oak, and a hint of dark chocolate.
Finish : Long, warming, and complex with lingering maritime peat smoke, sweet oak spice, and crisp orchard fruit.
Serve : Serve neat, with a few drops of water to open up the aromas, or over a large ice cube in a rocks glass.
