Nikka Miyagikyo Apple Brandy Wood Finish Japanese Whisky is a limited-edition single malt released in 2020 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the marriage between Nikka's founder, Masataka Taketsuru, and his Scottish wife, Rita. As a nod to the company's origins—when it sold apple juice and cider to survive while its first whiskies were maturing—this expression takes Miyagikyo's elegantly fruity and floral single malt and finishes it in Nikka's own apple brandy casks for six months. This special secondary maturation perfectly complements the distillery's signature light, unpeated style, elevating it with rich, warming layers of baked orchard fruit, sweet honey, and subtle spice.
