About the Moric Hausmarke Rot 2016/2017/2019/2020 Solera Blend 750ml
This wine is a “Solera Blend” of 2016, 2017, 2019 and 2020 vintages. The main idea behind this was to develop a wine that reflects Moric’s idea of slow aging. On the other hand, it makes this wine accessible early, but still with good complexity. Spontaneous fermentation in open vats for about 3-4 weeks, partly with stems. Spontaneous malolactic fermentation and aging in oak barrels 500-4000L. No fining or filtering and only small quantities of So2 added. Vegan as well.
Tasting Notes: Fresh bramble and cherry fruit on the nose, with earthy spice chiming in on the palate. Good, juicy, ripe fruit is lent assistance by excellent tannins and crunchy acidity that give this pretty severe. The grapes are cultivated according to the principles of biodynamic agriculture, and hand-picking is a choice to defend the integrity and purity of the berries.
92 Points - James Suckling
Brimming with crushed blue and blackberry fruit, plus a kiss of spicy and vanilla oak. The freshness of the blaufrankisch grape helps the international varieties that make up the rest of this complex blend. A nice snap of slightly sappy tannin and citrusy acidity at the finish pulls you back for more.
