Creyente Mezcal Joven

Crafted in Oaxaca, Mexico, Creyente Mezcal Joven is an ultra-smooth, artisanal blend (ensamble) produced by combining 100% Espadín agaves harvested from two distinct terroirs: the rich, fertile soils of Tlacolula and the steep, mineral-heavy hillsides of Yautepec. The mature agaves are slow-cooked in traditional underground conical stone pits fueled by mesquite and oak wood, crushed using a horse-drawn stone tahona wheel, and open-fermented in wooden pine vats with wild airborne yeasts. Following separate double-distillation in small copper pot stills, the two distinct distillates are masterfully blended together. The resulting unaged mezcal harmonizes the earthy, smoky depth of Yautepec with the bright, fruity, and herbal elegance of Tlacolula.

Food Pairing: Slow-cooked Oaxacan mole negro, grilled pork carnitas, smoked brisket, ceviche with avocado, aged Manchego cheese, or dark chocolate with sea salt.

Tasting Notes: Crystal clear in appearance with brilliant clarity, a silky medium body, and clean, delicate tears.

Nose: Rich, layered, and aromatic, opening with sweet cooked agave, gentle mesquite smoke, and crisp lime zest, supported by white pepper, damp earth, light fruit tree blossoms, and subtle herbal tea notes.

Palate: Smooth, balanced, and velvety on the palate, featuring caramelized agave nectar and ripe citrus upfront before unfolding into layers of mild wood smoke, cracked black pepper, fresh green herbs, and wet stone minerality.

Finish: Medium-long, clean, and elegant with lingering notes of gentle oak smoke, sweet agave nectar, zesty lime pith, and a soft, peppery warmth.

Serve: Enjoy neat at room temperature in a traditional clay copita or Glencairn glass, or as a sophisticated, smoky foundation for craft cocktails like a Mezcal Last Word, Oaxaca Old Fashioned, or Mezcal Paloma.
