Mendel Cabernet Franc 2020

Mendel Cabernet Franc 2020 is an incredibly elegant, precise, and old-world-influenced Argentine red wine that beautifully captures the high-altitude intensity of the southern Uco Valley. Under the meticulous guidance of renowned winemaker Roberto de la Mota, the fruit is meticulously sourced from the calcareous blocks of Finca Remota in Paraje Altamira, situated at an impressive 1,100 meters above sea level. Following manual berry selection, the wine undergoes traditional vinification before aging for 12 months in French oak barrels (split evenly between new, second-use, and third-use oak). In the glass, it reveals a dense, vibrant dark garnet-ruby hue with brilliant clarity. The highly expressive nose opens with complex aromas of fresh raspberries, dark cherries, and wild herbs, masterfully layered with sophisticated undertones of crushed black pepper, wet graphite, jalapeño, and ash, all backed by a subtle whisper of toasted vanilla. On the palate, the wine is medium-to-full-bodied and texturally striking, showcasing an engaging, refreshing fluid coherence. Its concentrated core of red and dark forest fruits is effortlessly framed by fine, chalky, yet remarkably firm tannins and a lively line of natural acidity, concluding with a long, linear, and elegantly persistent finish marked by savory spice and a cool mineral grip.
