Mauro Veglio Barolo Gattera 2018 is an exceptionally elegant, expressive, and beautifully balanced single-vineyard Cru Barolo that highlights the premium character of La Morra terroir. Sourced from 70-year-old vines with ideal southeast exposure, it pours a light ruby red with subtle garnet reflections. The nose is highly complex and inviting, opening with a refined bouquet of forest berries, wild rose, iris, and tilled earth, beautifully layered with nuances of French oak, star anise, mocha, and fresh menthol. On the palate, this medium-bodied Nebbiolo is lithe and delicate yet shows impressive momentum, delivering a juicy core of dried red cherries and black plums framed by firm, close-grained, and chalky tannins. Balanced by a vibrant vein of natural acidity, it integrates subtle savory spices and balsamic elements, concluding with a persistent, mineral-driven finish.

The Gattera Vineyard in La Morra farmed by Mauro Veglio is home to beautiful southeast-facing 70-year-old vines. The 2018 Barolo Gattera (with 9,000 bottles produced) is bright, linear and nicely balanced. The wine is lithe and delicate in spirit, yet it also shows impressive momentum with long-lasting perfumes of forest berry, wildflower and crushed stone. This is a very pretty Barolo.
