Masi Costasera Amarone Classico 2019/2020

Masi Costasera Amarone Classico is a proud, majestic, and complex red wine considered a benchmark for the Amarone category. Crafted using the traditional appassimento technique, where grapes are dried on bamboo racks over the winter months, it reveals a deep opaque ruby color with intensive aromas of baked fruit, plums, and cherries, balanced by notes of coffee, cocoa, and sweet spices. On the palate, it is full-bodied and firm, with velvety tannins and a long, persistent finish.

Food Pairing: Excellent with red meat, game, quails, richly flavored slow-cooked dishes, and well-aged cheeses such as parmesan, pecorino, and gorgonzola. It also serves beautifully as an after-dinner wine.

A restrained and reductive style, showing aromas of bay leaves, red and black cherries and a whiff of flowers. Full-bodied, it has a compact profile on the palate with ripe and velvety tannins, tight-knit acidity and a superprecise finish. A bit technical and young at the moment but very good. It is drinkable now, but wait for more complexity to develop.

The Masi 2020 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Costasera (made with 70% Corvina, 25% Rondinella and 5% Molinara) shows dark fruit ripeness with meaty cherry and blackberry. Thanks to the younger vintage, you can appreciate the wine's primary intensity. A potent 15% alcohol content and a full-bodied texture sets this bottle up for a pairing with polenta and sausage. Tart cherry appears as a final send-off.
