Maker's Mark 46 Bourbon

Maker's Mark 46 Bourbon is a highly acclaimed, deeply flavorful expression from the historic Maker's Mark Distillery in Loretto, Kentucky. Created by Bill Samuels Jr., this innovative expression was the very first release from the distillery's wood-finishing series. The process begins with standard, fully matured Maker's Mark wheated bourbon, which is emptied from its barrels so that ten seared French oak staves can be securely fitted inside. The bourbon is then returned to the modified barrels and aged for several additional months in a limestone cellar. This unique secondary maturation process amplifies the whiskey's natural characteristics, imparting intense wood notes, rich baking spices, and a deeply layered complexity while maintaining the iconic, front-of-the-palate smoothness that defines the brand.

Food Pairing: Pairs wonderfully with maple-glazed pork chops, dark chocolate bread pudding, smoked gouda cheese, or slow-cooked barbecue beef ribs.

TASTING NOTES - A deep, rich amber-copper color with a medium-to-full body and a wonderfully smooth, creamy, and velvety texture on the palate.

NOSE - Sweet and highly inviting, showcasing dominant aromas of toasted oak, rich caramel, and creamy vanilla, nicely balanced by warm baking spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and a touch of sawdust.

PALATE - Exceptionally bold and flavorful on the tongue, revealing intense bursts of dark brown sugar, toffee, and vanilla bean, layered with rich French oak tannins, cinnamon spice, and subtle notes of dried fruit.

FINISH - Long, clean, and satisfyingly warm, leaving lingering impressions of sweet wood spice, smooth caramel, and a gentle, drying oak character.
