About the Macbeth Act One Ledaig 18 Year Old First Murderer Murderers Series 50.5% ABV 700ml
The first Murderer to carry out Macbeth’s terrible bidding is realised here as a robust, smoky malt from Scotland’s western reaches. Distilled on the Isle of Mull, this heavily peated whisky is thick with coastal notes of seaweed, shellfish and brine. An excellent casting for one of Shakespeare’s most sinister creations.
Each whisky in this series was chosen by Elixir Distillers based on character profiles written by Dave Broom. The illustrations that appear on the labels are the work of the great Sir Quentin Blake.
TASTING NOTESNOSE
-
Spicy green olive oil, rockpools, bandages and iodine, then woody herbs and wild grasses
PALATE
-
White pepper, aspirins, oysters, preserved lemons, sourdough, cedar, brine. Peat kilns and brick dust
FINISH
-
Smoke and sea air linger over a long, dry finish
COMMENT
-
A serious island whisky that does a fantastic job of evoking this dark, mysterious character
