Macaloneys The Peat Project WA RW

Macaloney’s The Peat Project WA-RW is a heavily peated Canadian single malt whisky from Macaloney’s Island Distillery in Victoria, British Columbia. This expression uses Washington State peat from the Olympic Peninsula, producing malt at approximately 54 PPM, and is matured in a Portuguese re-charred red-wine (RW) barrique. It is bottled at 46% ABV.

Food Pairing: Smoked brisket, barbecue ribs, grilled steak, smoked salmon, aged cheddar and dark chocolate.

Tasting Notes: Intense peat smoke balanced by ripe fruit, vanilla sweetness, toasted oak and wine-cask richness.

Nose: Earthy peat smoke, red fruit, vanilla, toasted oak and subtle floral notes.

Palate: Rich smoke with sweet fruit, vanilla, oak spice and hints of dark berries from the red-wine cask.

Finish: Long and warming with lingering peat smoke, fruit, oak and gentle spice.

Serve: Best enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water.
