Lot No. 40 Rye Explorations Oloroso Casks

Lot No. 40 Oloroso Casks is a limited release from the Rye Explorations Series, produced at the Hiram Walker & Sons distillery in Windsor, Ontario. The whisky begins with Lot No. 40’s signature rye character matured in new American oak, followed by finishing in Oloroso Sherry casks, adding dried fruit, nutty richness and spice to the bold rye profile.

Food Pairing: Smoked brisket, roasted pork, aged cheddar, walnuts, charcuterie, dark chocolate and dried-fruit desserts.

Tasting Notes: Bold rye spice balanced by rich Oloroso influence, with baked fruit, toasted nuts, tobacco and seasoned oak.

Nose: Pear, walnut and cherry with rye spice, tobacco and mellow oak.

Palate: Rye spice, baked cherry and pear, toasted oak, tobacco leaf and nutmeg.

Finish: Long and warming with rye spice, oak tannins and lingering dried fruit.

Serve: Best enjoyed neat, with a few drops of water or over a large ice cube.
