About the Los Siete Misterios Espadin Tepeztate Mezcal
Joven ensamble combining Espadín and wild Tepeztate agaves. The Tepeztate grows on high, rocky mountainsides and can take many years to mature, contributing ripe citrus and tropical fruit character. It is cooked in an underground earth oven with wood and river stones and double-distilled in copper pot stills.
Food Pairing: Fresh seafood ceviche, grilled fish, herbal salads, roasted pork loin, and fresh goat cheese.
Tasting Notes: Crystal clear with a light-to-medium body, delivering a lively, mineral-forward mouthfeel with distinct green, intense floral, and wild herbal nuances.
Nose: Highly aromatic and pungent with bright notes of fresh jalapeno, green pepper, wild mint, crisp limestone minerals, cooked agave, and soft wood smoke.
Palate: Vibrant and complex, featuring notes of sweet roasted agave, citrus peel, intense green herbs, fresh ground pepper, wet stone earthiness, and subtle campfire smoke.
Finish: Long, crisp, and refreshing with lingering wild herbal notes, light pepper spice, clean minerals, and a gentle smoky warmth.
Serve: Served neat at room temperature in a traditional copita or wide-rimmed glass to allow the intense wild Tepeztate aromas to blossom.
