Liberator Craft Rye Whisky

Liberator Craft Rye Whisky is a small-batch Canadian whisky produced by Highwood Distillers in High River, Alberta. The base whisky is distilled from locally sourced wheat, aged for 5 years in a single-fill used Bourbon barrel, and then blended with aged rye-grain whisky to create a more pronounced rye character. Highwood’s current product information lists it at 42% ABV.

Food Pairing: Smoked meats, barbecue, grilled steak, aged cheddar, roasted nuts and dark chocolate.

Tasting Notes: A smooth Canadian whisky combining sweet grain, vanilla and caramel with rye-driven spice and oak.

Nose: Caramel, vanilla, toasted grain, light fruit and gentle oak.

Palate: Sweet wheat, caramel and vanilla followed by rye spice, pepper and seasoned oak.

Finish: Medium and warming with lingering rye spice, vanilla and oak.

Serve: Enjoy neat, over ice or in classic whisky cocktails.
