Ornellaia Le Volte dell'Ornellaia 2022 is an incredibly vibrant, supple, and beautifully balanced Super Tuscan red wine that serves as a highly approachable introduction to the legendary winemaking philosophy of Tenuta dell'Ornellaia. Reflecting the full-bodied appeal and impressive fruit concentration of the warm 2022 growing season, this expressive blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot captures the generous warmth of the coastal Tuscan terroir. The different varietals were fermented separately in small steel tanks to preserve their primary fruit character before undergoing malolactic fermentation. The wine was then aged for 10 months, partly in seasoned French oak barriques previously used for the estate’s flagship bottling and partly in concrete tanks. In the glass, it displays a deep ruby-red color with youthful purple reflections. The nose is remarkably complex and fresh, opening with fragrant aromas of ripe red cherries, wild strawberries, and juicy blackberries, beautifully layered with notes of fresh coffee, sweet baking spices, black pepper, and cedar. On the palate, this medium-to-full-bodied red is generous and fleshy, integrating smooth, velvety tannins with a lively line of electric acidity that leads to a clean, savory, and lingering fruit-forward finish.

Food Pairing: Pairs wonderfully with grilled rosemary lamb chops, fresh pasta tossed in wild boar ragù, wood-fired pepperoni pizza, or medium-aged Pecorino cheese.

This is a blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. In this hot vintage, the Merlot was slightly reduced. The Ornellaia 2022 Le Volte dell'Ornellaia remains a plush and accessible Tuscan red. Harvest time saw lower yields on average, with smaller berries and greater fruit concentration. This wine matures in used oak passed down from the top-shelf wines. There is blackberry and dark cherry with sweet spice.
