Ornellaia Le Volte dell'Ornellaia 2020 is an incredibly vibrant, expressive, and beautifully balanced Super Tuscan red wine that provides a highly approachable entry into the celebrated winemaking philosophy of the legendary Tenuta dell'Ornellaia estate. Sourced from choice vineyards along the sun-drenched Tuscan coast, this wine reflects the excellent conditions of the warm 2020 vintage. A thoughtful blend of Merlot, Sangiovese, and Cabernet Sauvignon, each variety was fermented separately in small steel vats to preserve its primary regional characteristics before undergoing malolactic fermentation. The wine was aged for 10 months in a combination of concrete tanks and seasoned French oak barriques previously used for the estate's flagship bottling. In the glass, it displays a bright, concentrated ruby-red color. The nose is highly complex, showing fragrant aromas of ripe red cherries, wild strawberries, and fresh dark plums, beautifully laced with notes of rose petals, Mediterranean scrub, sweet spices, and subtle chocolate. On the palate, this medium-to-full-bodied red is remarkably smooth and supple, integrating soft, velvety tannins with a lively line of food-friendly acidity that carries into a long, clean, and savory finish filled with spice and primary fruit.
