Le Piane Maggiorina

Le Piane Maggiorina is a remarkably lively, expressive, and historic red field blend that captures the ancient soul of Alto Piemonte. Named after the traditional "Maggiorina" vineyard training system—a historic layout where multiple vines are bundled together and grown in cross-shaped structures—this unique field blend is composed primarily of Croatina and Nebbiolo, alongside a mosaic of up to eleven other indigenous varieties. Grown on acidic, mineral-rich volcanic porphyry soils in the pre-Alpine hills, the wine is vinified to maintain its pristine, bright fruit attributes and terroir-driven energy. In the glass, it showcases a translucent ruby-red hue. The nose is highly expressive and perfumed, revealing an aromatic bouquet of wild strawberries, fresh red currants, and wild raspberries layered with white pepper, violet petals, and crushed mountain stones. On the palate, it is light-to-medium-bodied, vibrant, and incredibly fresh, driving juicy red berry flavors over a fine, chalky mineral texture and silky tannins before a clean, snappy finish.
