Le Piane Boca 2017

Le Piane Boca 2017 is a majestic, deeply structured, and extraordinarily age-worthy Italian red wine from the volcanic hills of Alto Piemonte. Crafted primarily from 85% Nebbiolo (locally known as Spanna) and 15% Vespolina, the fruit is meticulously hand-harvested from mature vines rooted in rare, acidic porphyry volcanic gravel soils. Matured for up to 3 to 4 years in large oak casks, this vintage gracefully navigates a dry, warm growing year to deliver exceptional aromatic brilliance and a surprisingly weightless, elegant poise. In the glass, it reveals a translucent garnet-red hue with a light orange-tinged rim. The highly complex nose opens with expressive aromas of sour cherries, wild strawberries, and crushed rose petals, intricately layered with complex notes of sweet pipe tobacco, cedar wood, white pepper, and a soft touch of balsam. On the palate, it delivers deep, concentrated red fruit and savory spice flavors supported by a firm, finely woven grid of silky tannins and a bracing line of volcanic acidity, concluding with an exceptionally long, clean, and noble mineral finish.
