About the Laws San Luis Valley Straight Rye Bottled-in-Bond
An exceptional, terroir-driven whiskey from Colorado’s renowned Laws Whiskey House! This expression is crafted using a remarkably unique mash bill of 95% heirloom San Luis Valley rye and 5% heirloom barley. Grown at high altitudes in mineral-rich soil, this specific rye grain imparts an incredibly distinct, earthy, and floral flavor profile that you simply won't find in mass-produced ryes. Adhering strictly to the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897, it is aged for a minimum of four years (though often older) in heavily charred oak and bottled at precisely 100 proof (50% ABV). It delivers a robust, unapologetic, and brilliantly complex sipping experience that perfectly captures the spirit of Colorado.
NOSE
Bright, floral, and deeply aromatic. Inviting notes of sweet grass, fresh mint, orange blossom, and a distinct punch of black pepper and sea salt.
PALATE
Rich, viscous, and spice-forward. A lively rush of cracked peppercorn and herbaceous rye is beautifully balanced by rich salted caramel, dark chocolate, and warm baking spices.
FINISH
Exceptionally long, dry, and chest-warming with a lingering trail of sweet black tea, anise, and seasoned oak.
