Laphroaig Oak Select

Laphroaig Oak Select (formerly known simply as Laphroaig Select) is a beautifully balanced, approachable introduction to the famously bold world of Islay single malt Scotch. It offers a more laid-back expression of the distillery's signature coastal character by marrying whiskies aged across five unique wood types: ex-bourbon casks, quarter casks, Pedro Ximénez sherry hogsheads, Oloroso sherry butts, and new American oak. The result is an inviting nose of classic medicinal peat smoke, lime zest, and sea spray, leading into a smooth palate of soft vanilla sweetness, rich honey, and subtle red fruit notes, all wrapped in a gentle, warm finish of dry ash and spices.

Food Pairing: The delicate balance of sweet oak and maritime peat smoke pairs perfectly with robustly flavored seafood, such as hot-smoked salmon or fresh oysters on the half shell with a squeeze of lemon. It also brilliantly complements rich, savory appetizers like artisanal bacon-wrapped dates or a plate of mature, creamy blue cheese.

TASTING NOTES Sparkling gold with layered tones and a lighter, smoother, and slightly less oily mouthfeel compared to the standard 100% ex-bourbon expressions.

NOSE Classic Laphroaig peat smoke and damp earth, noticeably calmer and sweeter, layered with fresh barley, red fruits, vanilla-sugar, and a bright zest of lemon and lime.

PALATE Delicately sweet and easygoing upfront with flavors of honey, soft vanilla, and pastry croissants, quickly giving way to a gentle wave of medicinal peat smoke, sea salt, light dried fruit, and a pinch of black pepper.

FINISH Medium in length, clean and dry with lingering earthy peat smoke, subtle kitchen spices, a touch of almond marzipan, and trailing citrus zest.
