About the La Fornace Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2017 750ml
Riserva from the Tuscan winery La Fornace comes from 100% Sangiovese grapes, grown in the company's vineyards located at 400 m usl, facing north-east and planted on sandy and clayey soils. After the manual harvest which involves a careful selection of the berries, the grapes undergo alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in steel, and then move on to the refinement procedure which requires a stay of 48 months in French oak barrels and then bottling.
94 Points - Wine Enthusiast
The nose starts deep and earthy, with notes of old leather, cloves and black olives, but a vanilla undertone sets up developing aromas of cherries and oranges. The vanilla and cherries carry the palate above a persistent current of umami. Acid bounces around grippy, powerful tannins.
