Kilkerran 12 Year Old

Kilkerran 12 Year Old is a highly acclaimed, lightly peated single malt Scotch whisky produced at the historic Mitchell’s Glengyle Distillery in Campbeltown. Reopened in 2004 by the legendary Mitchell family (owners of Springbank), Glengyle revived a historic distillery that had been silent for nearly eighty years, restoring Campbeltown's status as a distinct whisky region. This flagship expression is matured in a careful combination of 70% ex-bourbon casks and 30% ex-sherry casks. It is bottled without chill-filtration or added coloring, offering a wonderfully complex, oily, and authentic Campbeltown profile that beautifully balances coastal brine, sweet malt, and a delicate kiss of peat smoke.

Food Pairing: Pairs wonderfully with smoked duck breast, grilled lamb chops with rosemary, mature pecorino cheese, or rich dark chocolate sea salt caramels.

TASTING NOTES - A bright, pale gold color with a medium-bodied, oily, and wonderfully waxy mouthfeel typical of classic Campbeltown malts.

NOSE - Fragrant and complex, offering aromas of toasted oak, sweet honey, marshmallow, and dried citrus peel, coupled with a gentle, earthy peat smoke and a touch of maritime brine.

PALATE - Robust and incredibly balanced on the tongue, revealing sweet notes of butterscotch, lemon meringue, and vanilla biscuit, layered with black pepper, dry peat, and a light coastal saltiness.

FINISH - Long and clean, ending with a drying, warming mix of ash, oak spice, and lingering sweet brine.

SERVE - Best enjoyed neat in a Glencairn glass to experience the coastal and peaty nuances, or with a few drops of water to bring out more vanilla sweetness.
