Kanonkop Kadette Cape Blend 2023 is a classic, deeply expressive South African red blend produced by the renowned Kanonkop Estate in Stellenbosch. Crafted from a blend dominated by Pinotage along with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, the grapes are harvested from mature vines grown on granite-rich soils. The wine undergoes traditional open-top concrete fermenter maceration with manual punch-downs followed by maturation in French oak barrels. In the glass, it displays a dark ruby-red color. The nose opens with vibrant aromas of ripe dark plum, black cherry, and red berries, layered with undertones of dark chocolate, sweet tobacco, leather, and subtle oak spice. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied and supple, offering savory dark fruit flavors supported by fine-grained tannins and balanced acidity that lead to a smooth, elegant finish.
