Domaine Jamet Côte-Rôtie 'Côte Brune' 2020 is an exceptionally rare, monumental, and deeply expressive single-vineyard Syrah produced by Jean-Paul, Corinne, and Loïc Jamet in the Northern Rhône Valley. Originating from ancient vines planted on the steep, iron-rich mica-schist slopes of the legendary Côte Brune lieu-dit, this wine undergoes traditional whole-cluster fermentation with native yeasts and matures for nearly two years in French oak barrels. In the glass, it reveals a dense, dark garnet hue accompanied by an extraordinarily complex bouquet of cassis, black olives, smoked bacon, crushed graphite, dark chocolate, and floral violet notes. On the palate, it is full-bodied, profound, and impeccably balanced, featuring immense structural concentration, firm yet polished tannins, and a long, savory, earth-and-spice finish.

Among all the 2020 barrels, the 2020 Cote Rotie Cote Brune stood considerably above all the others (although the Cote Blonde wasn't that far behind). Blessed with incredibly floral, potpourri-like aromatics set against a backdrop of vibrant black raspberry fruit, it's medium to full-bodied and magically rich and intense without being weighty. Enormously long on the finish, it seamlessly combines all the elements of greatness—balance, length, intensity and complexity—into one superlative wine that should drink well for at least two decades.
