Growing atop the western face of the Mayacamas Mountains, the vines sit in shallow, iron-rich volcanic soils and experience dramatic diurnal temperature swings that preserve natural acidity while allowing for intense fruit concentration. The winemaking typically involves small-lot fermentation and approximately 18 to 21 months of aging in French oak barrels (often 50%–70% new) to polish its "elegantly muscular" frame. It delivers a complex aromatic profile of black cherry, cassis, and red currant, supported by savory undertones of graphite, cedar, and mountain sage.
