Domaine Paul Jaboulet Aîné Crozes-Hermitage Domaine de Thalabert is a highly celebrated, estate-grown Northern Rhône red wine produced from the oldest vineyard in the Crozes-Hermitage appellation, held by the family since 1834. Crafted entirely from 100% Syrah vines ranging from 40 to 90 years old, this organically and biodynamically farmed wine is shaped by the unique "jalets" (smooth, glacially deposited alpine pebbles) that carpet the vineyard floor and radiate heat back onto the vines. In the glass, it displays a deep, brilliant ruby-purple color. The highly aromatic and complex nose bursts with expressive layers of dark cherries, crushed wild blackberries, and plum jam, seamlessly balanced by savory undertones of black pepper, smoked meats, black olives, and earthy licorice. On the palate, the wine is medium-to-full-bodied, showing an exceptional harmony of rich, fleshy black fruit and structural refinement. Its plush core is framed by fine-grained, velvety tannins and an elegant natural acidity, leading into a very long, focused finish highlighted by a distinctive stony, saline minerality and cracked spice.
