Isle of Raasay 'The Draam' Single Malt Whisky

Isle of Raasay 'The Draam' Single Malt Whisky is the flagship expression from the first legal distillery on the Hebridean Isle of Raasay. Master Distiller Alasdair Day crafted this lightly peated single malt using a highly innovative six-cask maturation recipe. Both peated and unpeated spirits are matured separately in a unique combination of first-fill ex-rye whiskey casks, virgin Chinkapin oak, and first-fill Bordeaux red wine casks before being expertly vatted together. Bottled at 46.4% ABV with its natural color and without chill-filtration, 'The Draam' beautifully balances classic Hebridean maritime smoke with vibrant, dark fruit flavors, delivering a Scotch whisky of unparalleled elegance, complexity, and depth.

Food Pairing: Grilled venison, smoked salmon, charcuterie boards with aged cheddar, rich dark chocolate, or desserts featuring dark berry compote.

Tasting Notes : Natural dark amber in appearance with a silky, rich, and elegantly textured mouthfeel.

Nose : Sweet and richly aromatic, leading with notes of wood smoke, stewed plum, ripe papaya, and dark cherries, intertwined with maritime sea salt, toasted cedar, and a hint of aged leather.

Palate : Honeyed, rich, and complex. A beautiful balance of sweet peaches, dark blackberry compote, and strawberry jam gives way to warming cinnamon spice, black pepper, and gentle Hebridean peat smoke.

Finish : Medium to long, slightly salinic and chocolaty, leaving a lingering warmth of sweet dark fruit, baking spice, and a wisp of maritime bonfire smoke.

Serve : Serve neat in a Glencairn glass. A few drops of water can be added to open up the complex fruity esters and further reveal the subtle coastal salinity.
