About the Master of Malt Masterpiece Invergordon 50 Year Old 1974
Master of Malt Masterpiece Invergordon 50 Year Old 1974 is an exceptionally mature Highland single grain Scotch whisky, independently bottled by Master of Malt as part of its Masterpiece collection. Distilled in November 1974 and bottled in 2025 after five decades in an ex-bourbon barrel, this rare expression offers an elegant combination of mature oak, sweet grain, orchard fruit and delicate herbal complexity. Its long maturation brings depth and refinement, with a gently warming finish. Bottled at 46.3% ABV, this limited release comprises 296 individually numbered bottles.
Food Pairing: Aged Gouda, roasted pecans, caramelized nuts, apple tart, crème brûlée, dark chocolate or buttery shortbread.
Tasting Notes: Mature oak, vanilla, melon, sweet grain, delicate herbs and gentle spice.
Nose: Vanilla, polished oak, ripe melon, soft caramel and subtle herbal aromas.
Palate: Rounded grain sweetness, creamy vanilla, orchard fruit, toasted oak and gentle warming spice.
Finish: Long and refined, with lingering vanilla, delicate herbal notes and mature oak dryness.
Serve: Enjoy neat in a Glencairn glass at room temperature, allowing several minutes for the mature aromas to develop.
