About the House of Hazelwood Queen of the Hebrides
Heave away on the gulf of the Corryvreckan and discover a marvellous maelstrom of maritime character within this smoked sensation. A heavily peated partner worthy of such a royal title.
While the House of Hazelwood inventory spans every corner of Scotland, perhaps the rarest stocks within our collection are those traded malts from the isle of Islay – known as the Queen of the Hebrides. This rich, savoury, phenolic Blended Malt embodies the character of the island itself, matured to great age in American oak to deliver a wonderfully satisfying mouthfeel, with light tannins and a long finish.
Nose
Bonfires burn and smoulder on the nose of this Islay malt. The phenolic, charcoal quality is softened by the presence of yuzu citrus, transforming creosote into bacon in a puff of smoke.
Palate
The smoke character develops on the palate, offering up notes of cigar smoke and lightly singed tree bark. Chew your way through the finish on fresh tobacco leaves.
