About the Hess Select Chardonnay 2023
This winery is helmed by the fourth generation of the Hess family, originally from Switzerland. The focus is on quality and sustainable development. An 8-month aging in barrels brings notes of maple and toasted almond to this Chardonnay. The palate is round, has a coating texture and unveils accents of butter, corn and caramelized pear.
As a classic California Chardonnay, this wine offers tropical aromas of grilled pineapple, a hint of lemon zest, and subtle oak. Hess Select Chardonnay is medium-bodied with layered flavors of sliced peaches and golden delicious apples, finishing crisp and clean with well-balanced acid. Maritime influences in the vineyard bring bright acidity; 30% oak fermentation adds and a creamy crème brûlée like finish.
