About the Domaine Henri Gouges Clos des Porrets Monopole 2021 750ml
The 2021 Henri Gouges Clos des Porrets St. Georges 1er Cru is a Pinot Noir wine from the Domaine Henri Gouges in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Burgundy, France:
Tasting notes
Some say the wine has a beautiful bouquet of black cherries, dark berries, coffee bean, woodsmoke, and gamebird. Others describe it as pure, full-bodied, and seamless with a long, complex finish.
Winemaking
The wine is aged in oak barrels for 10 to 18 months, with 10% to 30% of new barrels. The winery uses a gravity-flow system to avoid putting too much pressure on the grapes.
Pairing
The wine pairs well with duck, goose, and game birds.
Estate
The Domaine Henri Gouges estate was founded in 1919 by Henri Gouges, who was one of the first producers to reject the Burgundian trading system. The estate is now run by the third generation of the Gouges family, Gregory and Antoine.
